Contact lens options

Daily, monthly, coloured and specialist contact lenses

Contact lenses are not one-size-fits-all. The optometrist considers your prescription, corneal shape, eye-surface health, comfort and how you plan to wear your lenses.

01

Daily disposable contact lenses

Daily lenses are worn once and discarded. Options may include spherical lenses and toric daily contact lenses for some prescriptions with astigmatism.

02

Monthly soft contact lenses

Monthly contact lenses are replaced on a regular schedule and need the cleaning and storage routine advised by your optometrist. Spherical and astigmatism options may be available.

03

Contact lenses for astigmatism

Toric soft contact lenses and some RGP designs can correct astigmatism. The right option depends on your prescription and how the lens sits on your eye.

04

Coloured contact lenses

Ask about daily or monthly coloured contact lenses. The coloured lenses listed by the practice are spherical; if you have astigmatism, speak to the optometrist about suitable choices.

05

RGP and custom hard contact lenses

Custom RGP (rigid gas permeable) hard contact lenses are individually fitted to the shape of your cornea. They can suit a range of prescriptions and are usually supplied as yearly lenses.

06

High-powered and extended-range contact lenses

For very strong prescriptions, ask about Mark’ennovy custom extended-range contact lenses. Cantor & Nissel aesthetic lenses may be an option for some people with strabismus or corneal scarring.

Your fitting appointment

What happens at a contact lens test?

We assess your eyes and lens fit, then guide you through safe wear and care. A valid eye test prescription is needed before a contact lens assessment.

01

Pre-screening and measurements

We measure the curvature of your cornea and check details that help assess a suitable lens fit.

02

Contact lens examination

The optometrist checks the health of the front surface of your eyes and discusses lens options for your needs.

03

Handling, trial and aftercare

If you are new to lenses, we show you how to apply and remove them safely and explain cleaning, replacement and risks. Trial lenses may be offered subject to availability.

Healthy contact lens wear

Fitting, contact lens checks and aftercare

A contact lens prescription is different from a glasses prescription because lens fit and eye health need to be checked. Attend the review appointments recommended by your optometrist and follow the replacement and cleaning instructions for your lenses.

  • Bring your current glasses prescription and any contact lens packaging or details.
  • Tell us about dryness, discomfort, redness or previous difficulty with contact lenses.
  • If lenses are needed for long days, sport or work, explain this at your appointment.
Common questions

Contact lens FAQs

What types of contact lenses can I get?

Options include daily and monthly soft lenses, lenses for astigmatism, coloured contact lenses, RGP hard lenses and custom extended-range lenses for some high prescriptions. Suitability depends on your eye health and prescription.

Can I get contact lenses for a high prescription?

High-powered contact lenses may be available, including custom extended-range lenses from Mark’ennovy. The optometrist will assess your prescription and fit before recommending an option.

Can I wear contact lenses if I have astigmatism?

Some people with astigmatism can wear toric soft lenses or selected RGP designs. A contact lens fitting checks which options may work for your eyes.

Can I get same-day contact lenses?

Some lenses are stocked at the practice. Same-day supply depends on your prescription, lens type and current stock, so call us before visiting.

Are coloured contact lenses available with prescription?

The practice offers coloured lenses in spherical daily and monthly options. They may not suit every prescription, particularly astigmatism, so ask the optometrist for advice.

Alcon, CooperVision and custom contact lenses

We supply Alcon and CooperVision contact lenses, as well as custom lenses where required. Ask about daily, monthly, toric and multifocal contact lenses. We select options around your prescription, eye health and lens fit rather than brand name alone.

Some contact lenses are available the same day, subject to your existing contact lens specification, a suitable assessment where needed, and current stock. A glasses prescription alone is not a contact lens specification. Call or message us on WhatsApp before travelling.

If your child’s short-sightedness is progressing, ask about myopia management and the options available after assessment.
